Lazy Day Crust-less Apple Crumble
(updated)
I wanted to make something like a pie with apples but felt too lazy to make a crust for the pie. Apples are on sale at this time of the year. Plus the cool weather makes me feel like baking, and boy is it cold outside this morning! It’s our second night of frost.
The grandkids slept over last night and they are still sleeping at 8:22 am, wow that’s a record. They were up pretty late last night. The smell of my crustless apple crumble will wake them up.
You’ll need:
5 cups of apples or 5 small apples I used Granny Smith apples peeled and sliced
2/3 cup sugar, I used coconut sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon lemon juice
Topping:
1 cup flour, I used whole wheat
1/2 cup of butter softened
1/2 cup of brown sugar
In a large bowl, mix the apples, the lemon juice, sugar, and cinnamon all together until the apples are nicely coated.
Pour into a 11×7 lighted greased glass pan, that’s what I used, but you can substitute a different size if needed.
In a small bowl mix together the flour, butter, and sugar until crumbly.
Sprinkle the crumb topping evenly over the apples.
Bake in a preheated 350 degrees F oven for 55 minutes to an hour or until the apples are tender and the topping is nice and brown.
Let it cool a little bit before eating because it comes out boiling hot.
You can top it with ice cream or whipped cream, or eat it like it is. It’s a simple dessert to make and tastes so good!
