I’ve been experimenting with adding Turmeric to some of my recipes. This Chuck Roast Seasoned with Turmeric in the Slow Cooker turned out quite tasty!

I was so excited to use the new Crock-Pot 6 Qt 8-in-1 Multi-Use Express Crock Programmable Slow Cooker, Pressure Cooker, Sauté, and Steamer that I bought myself at Christmas. I skipped the first step showing how easy it is to brown the meat before slow cooking. When I make the recipe again I will come back and include the browning of the chuck roast in my recipe. Even without browning the chuck roast, it turned out tender, and full of flavor. So either way, it tastes delicious!

Chuck Roast Seasoned with Turmeric in the Slow Cooker

You’ll need:
1 1/2 pound chuck roast
2 cups French onion soup or beef broth
2 -3 garlic cloves chopped
5 -6 potatoes cut into bite-size pieces
3 large carrots sliced
1 small onion into bite-size pieces
1 teaspoon turmeric
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper

Starting with the potatoes, layer each ingredient in the slow cooker.

Add the carrots.

Add the frozen baby lima beans.

Now it’s time for the chuck roast and sliced onions. Sprinkle with turmeric, salt, and pepper.

Pour the French onion soup or beef broth over all the ingredients.

Set the slow cooker on low for *10 hours.
*TIP Slow cooker temperatures vary from slow cooker, to slow cooker. My older slow cooker cooks much hotter on low than this Crock Pot Express Pot. So be aware times may vary with each slow cooker.)
