Chocolate Banana Bread with Carob Powder
Chocolate banana bread, what’s not to like? I love just about anything with chocolate, add some bananas and it makes it seem a little healthier, right? Oh well…that’s what I tell myself when a eat a big slice for breakfast. Actually in this recipe which I found here. I substituted the cocoa powder with Carob powder. Never heard of it? I won a contest over at It’s a Harley Life and one of the products was Carob Powder. I had never heard of it. So I did a Google search and found out what an amazing product this is. I was skeptical of course. I have heard this song and dance before. Sure it tastes like chocolate. 😉 I was pleasantly surprised. 1/2 cup butter, softened
1 cup Sucanat/sugar
3 bananas mashed
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/1/2 cups whole wheat flour/white flour
1 teaspoon baking soda,
2 tablespoon carob powder/ unsweetened cocoa
1/2 cup sour cream light
1/2 cup chocolate chips
In a bowl cream your butter, sugar, eggs and bananas together. Add vanilla extract and mix in.
Fold in chocolate chips.
Chocolate Banana Bread
- You'll need:
- ½ cup butter, softened
- 1 cup Sucanat/sugar
- 2 eggs
- 3 bananas mashed
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/1/2 cups whole wheat flour/white flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda,
- 2 tablespoon carob powder/ unsweetened cocoa
- ½ cup sour cream light
- ½ cup chocolate chips
- In a bowl cream your butter, sugar, eggs and bananas together.
- Add vanilla extract and mix in.
- Sift in the flour, baking soda, cocoa powder.
- Mix until well blended.
- Stir in sour cream.
- Fold in chocolate chips.
- Pour into a greased 9x5 loaf pan.
- Bake in a preheated 350 F for 1 hour or a inserted toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool and eat
