I thought since many of us have left over ham ( I have a ham with a wonderful bone to make some soup) that I would post a few ham recipes this week. Ham freezes nicely so you can freeze it today and make some of theses dishes another day.
I always make a big pot of bean and ham soup. It’s a simple soup to make.
Before I went to bed last night I soaked my northern beans in water.
Here’s what I did:
First you rinse and sort through the beans.
Remove any broken or discolored beans
Cover with water
Let set over night. By morning they will have plumped up.
Rinse and they are ready to use.
You can also quick soak them by rinsing and sorting, Cover the beans with water and bring to a boil on the stove top. Boil 2 minutes., Cover and remove from heat, let stand for one hour. Drain. They are ready use in the recipe.
I just put my pot of soup on the stove. I will post the recipe either later today or tomorrow morning. I have 2 grand kids today and my momma who has 2 fractured toes. So they will keep my busy. 🙂
