Happy Earth Day!

Spring a big planting season for me and I am excited this spring to share my experience with this companion planting kit that I received from Mary’s Heirloom Seeds. Mary’s Heirloom Seeds is a “mom and pop” small business. They are an eco-friendly company. All of the seeds are un-treated, non-hybrid, open-pollinated, non-gmo, heirloom seeds. Heirloom seeds are hardier and some studies suggest, have more nutritional value than genetically modified (GMO) seeds.

I grow many different types of vegetables every year. I like to add and subtract one or two each year. Last year I grew pumpkins for the first time. I had so much fun doing that and with great success, 15 total pumpkins, not bad for my small garden. This year instead of pumpkins I am going to plant one of Mary’s Companion Kits. Companion planting is based around the idea that certain plants can benefit each other by planting together or close by each other. Certain plants deter certain bugs so there is no need for chemicals to control pests in the garden.

I am planting the Squash Companion Kit.
This companion planting kits includes 1 full pack of the following Heirloom Seeds:
Golden Crookneck Squash
Genovese Basil
Borage deters worms
Marigold deters beetles
Nasturtium deters squash bugs and beetles
Sounds like a great combination doesn’t it?

I’ll keep you updated on my progress. It’s still a little early to do some planting here in Ohio. As a special gift for Earth Day mary is offering FREE SEEDS. Happy Planting!
