9 Ways You’ll Save with Kings Island Gold Season Pass
Some of my favorite childhood memories are of going to Kings Island every summer. We started going the year they opened, 1972. My sister Marilyn and her family would visit from New Jersey every summer and we always went to Kings Island as the highlight of their visit! Going to Kings Island was a big deal, it became a family tradition, and it still is a family tradition.
Now I’m taking my grandchildren to Kings Island. Since we live less than 45 minutes from the park we like to go more than one time in a year. That’s why we get the Kings Island Gold Season Pass. It pays for itself in two visits! Plus the perks are fantastic! I’ll tell you more about them later.
This was my grandson River who’s 4, first time visiting the park. Katie and Tyler were excited but River was super excited because he had no idea what to expect.
We headed straight for Planet Snoopy! Planet Snoopy has been voted best kids area for 16 years in a row.
You can tell by the smiling faces they are having a blast riding The Great Pumpkin Coaster. They rode it several times! My daughter’s fiance Chris was alway elected to go on the rides with them. He’s like a big kid with them.
Watching his little face was the absolute best part of the day.
Check out the grandkids on the Linus’ Beetle Bugs ride. Hilarious!
Katie and River enjoyed visiting with all the Peanuts gang. As soon as River caught a glimpse of Linus he went right after him. He kept looking at their hands and feet in amazement.
Of course, we all know Charlie Brown! You never knew who you were going to see walking around Kings Island.
River loves Snoopy so much he gave him a kiss.
We also ran into Sally, check out River, he’s looking at her shoes, those are some big shoes!
Tyler preferred the characters that didn’t move, or hug you, ha ha.
Katie made sure she kept a close eye on River. She is so good with the little ones.
When we arrived at the entrance of Dinosaur Alive the boys took off down the trail. This is Tyler’s favorite part of coming to Kings Island, and he was excited to show River how they moved and roared. Dinosaur Alive has 65 animatronic dinosaurs, it’s the largest in the world! I have to admit it’s one of my favorite parts of the park.
They also have an area where the kids can dig for dinosaur bones. It’s like a huge sandbox with digging tools and buried dinosaur bones. They also had a young lady overseeing the digging, she was able to answer the kids’ questions and give them a bit of dinosaur history. She was great!
I snapped a couple photos of the big thrill rides, I’ll ride these on a day I come without the little ones. This first one is the Vortex coaster, it reaches speeds in excess of 55 miles per hour. It goes through two vertical loops, a double corkscrew, boomerang turn, and a 360-degree helix. This is a wild ride!
The Windseeker is not for the faint of heart. The ride takes you up 30 stories in a swing, you can see their little feet dangling.
This is the entrance to Mystic Timbers the brand new coaster. It’s hidden in the woods.
