Whole Wheat Chocolate Crackers

My grand daughter Katie loves her chocolate crackers from Meijers. I’m not crazy about her eating those processed foods so I looked for a recipe for chocolate crackers and found one here. I made mine with whole wheat flour and sucanat. I am going to look for some cute little cookie cutters to use next time. I also needed to roll them out thinner then I did. They tasted great though. I couldn’t get Katie to try one. She can be stubborn sometimes. Wonder where she gets that? Hmmm… Tyler loved them. So it was a half victory. Katie enjoyed making them especially the blender part. I will be making these again. 🙂

Whole Wheat Chocolate Crackers

Whole wheat chocolate crackers. Homemade.


  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa
  • 1 cup quick oats
  • 1/2 cup butter (softened)
  • 1 1/2 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 cup sucanat/sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
  • 3/4 cups cold milk


Make sure you roll the dough thin and even so they crisp up correctly.


Step 1
Pre heat oven to 350 F. In a blender add quick oats.
Step 2
Add whole wheat flour.
Step 3
Add baking soda.
Step 4
Add sucanat or white sugar.
Step 5
Add sea salt.
Step 6
Add cocoa powder.
Step 7
Pulse in blender until mixture is ground into a powder and blended into an even color.
Step 8
Pour mixture from blender into a large bowl, add milk and stir vigorously.
Step 9
Add butter and stir vigorously until stiff and dough like.
Step 10
Add extra milk if needed.
Step 11
Half dough and roll out on parchment paper.
Step 12
Roll until 1/4 inch thick.
Step 13
I used a pizza cutter to cut the crackers. You can lift the parchment paper and place onto a cookie sheet. Bake for 10 to 15 minutes. Checking after 10 minutes.
Step 14
They will crisp after cooling. Then break into crackers.
