Fried Green Tomatoes

Ingredients

  • 1 or 2 green tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup Flour
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup panko bread crumbs
  • salt and pepper
  • garlic powder (optional)

Instructions

  1. Sliced the tomato into 1/4 to 1/3 inch slices and set aside. In a small bowl. Stir the eggs until mixed. Combine the flour, salt, pepper, and garlic powder in a second small bowl. In another small bowl place the panko bread crumbs.

  2. Dredge each slice of tomato through the egg flour egg and bread crumbs in that order.

  3. In a large skillet heat the olive oil until over medium-high heat. Place each slice into the hot oil. Cook on each side until a nice crispy brown. You don't want to overcook them.

  4. Drain on a paper towel. eat them while they are hot.
