Have you ever eaten Scalloped Potatoes Au Gratin? I had to look up the name to make sure I called my dish by the correct name. 😉  Were the potatoes from  a box or homemade? With the boxed it’s so easy and convenient all you do is add water and cook. They may be simpler to prepare but, they don’t taste anything like homemade. This is really a very simple recipe. Once you make it you’ll wonder why you hadn’t made it before. You can put as much or as little cheese as you want. I thought this amount was perfect.

You’ll need:

4 Idaho potatoes sliced thin

1 small onion diced

salt and pepper

garlic seasoning

3 tablespoons butter

3 tablespoons flour

1 teaspoon salt

2 cups milk

2 cups cheddar cheese

Grease a casserole dish.

Layer 1/2 the thinly sliced potatoes in the casserole dish. Scalloped Potatoes 081

Bake in a preheated 400 oven for 1 1/2 hours until potatoes are tender and it’s crusty around the edges.

I place mine under the broiler to make the top brown and crusty too.
