Scalloped Potatoes Au Gratin

- 4 Idaho potatoes sliced thin
- 1 small onion diced
- salt and pepper
- garlic seasoning
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 3 tablespoons flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups milk
- 2 cups cheddar cheese
- Grease a casserole dish.
- Layer ½ the thinly sliced potatoes in the casserole dish.
- Top with the onions
- Layer the rest of the sliced potatoes on top.
- In a medium sauce pan melt the butter
- Add flour and whisk until smooth.
- Add milk stirring constantly until thickened.
- Add 1½ cup of the cheese and whisk until smooth and bubbly.
- Pour over potatoes.
- Sprinkle with salt, pepper, garlic seasoning and cheese.
- Bake in a preheated 400 oven for 1½ hours until potatoes are tender and it's crusty around the edges.
- I place mine under the broiler to make the top brown and crusty too.
