Scalloped Potatoes Au Gratin

Ingredients
  • 4 Idaho potatoes sliced thin
  • 1 small onion diced
  • salt and pepper
  • garlic seasoning
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 3 tablespoons flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 cups cheddar cheese
Instructions
  1. Grease a casserole dish.
  2. Layer ½ the thinly sliced potatoes in the casserole dish.
  3. Top with the onions
  4. Layer the rest of the sliced potatoes on top.
  5. In a medium sauce pan melt the butter
  6. Add flour and whisk until smooth.
  7. Add milk stirring constantly until thickened.
  8. Add 1½ cup of the cheese and whisk until smooth and bubbly.
  9. Pour over potatoes.
  10. Sprinkle with salt, pepper, garlic seasoning and cheese.
  11. Bake in a preheated 400 oven for 1½ hours until potatoes are tender and it's crusty around the edges.
  12. I place mine under the broiler to make the top brown and crusty too.
