Old Fashioned Iced Banana Cookies

Old Fashioned Iced Banana Cookies 034

Today I want to share a tasty little cookie recipe. I try to eat at least one banana a day, I love the flavor and texture of bananas. I encourage the grand kids to eat them but Ty starts to eat one and if it breaks he won’t eat anymore. He thinks it’s broken and shouldn’t be eaten. I have tried to convince him otherwise but if you know anything about 2 year old children they have a mind of their own. lol. So after a visit from the grand kids I usually have some leftover bananas which I use to make lots of banana goodies.

You’ll need:

2 cups whole wheat flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/4 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon cloves

1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup butter

1 cup sucanat/brown sugar

1 large egg

1 cup mashed banana (2-3 bananas)

Preheat the oven to 375 F,. Line baking sheets with parchment paper or spray lightly with oil

In a medium size bowl mix together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cloves, nutmeg, and salt. Set aside

In another bowl beat the butter and sugar (sucanat is a tan color so my cookies look darker)  together with an electric hand mixer.

Awe! That’s so cute about Ty and the banana. My grandkids love them so much I have to get out enough for one each and hide the rest or they will just eat them until they are all gone.

I’ve never seen cookies like this. They look so good.

Yum! I have some ripe bananas now, and my kids won’t eat them if they are over ripe. I need to try this.

    I’m stopping by from BYB.

Thanks for sharing on Homesteaders Hop. Your recipe looks delicious, and I love your story about your son refusing to eat a banana after it “breaks”. Precious!

These sound very yummy and I need the bananas. They are good for you and that is a way to get them without eating a banana. I can only have a half one so this would work wonders.
