Feels like Spring in January!

The last few day here in Ohio we have been blessed with temperatures in the mid 50’s. Feels wonderful! Makes me want to work outside in the garden. It surely won’t last long, but I’m enjoying it while it does last.

After Christmas I like to scour the stores to see if there are any good seasonal items on clearance. You never know what you’ll find. This year I found a  Chia Herb Garden. I thought it would be fun to do this with my grand daughter.

We planted them 4 days ago according to the instructions ( Put wet growing sponges in pots provided. Sprinkle seeds on top. Cover the pots with plastic and place on top of the refrigerator or another warm spot until they sprout). As you can see in the picture 2 of them already have.

I will keep them covered until 1 to 2 inches tall. Once they sprout they need at least 6 hours of direct sunlight. You will get your best sun light from a south facing window. I will keep the other pot in the bag on top of the refrigerator until it sprouts.

My grand daughter was so amazed at the transformation from seed to sprout. You could easily do this without a kit. All you need are seeds, starting medium, and eager helping hands. I will keep you posted with our progress.
