Today I am sharing another installment of my Exploring Park Series with Carriage Hill Farm (Part – 2). In this post, we will be exploring the Arnold family graveyard. I’ve always been drawn to old graveyards, I think it’s interesting to read the old tombstones, see how long someone lived, how many children they had, you never know what you’ll find on a headstone.

If you missed Carriage Hill Farm (Part – 1) you can read all about it here.  There is plenty of walking to do before you reach the graveyard. The kids had fun exploring along the way. The grandkids were much younger when I took these pictures.

Here is the sign close to the graveyard naming the family and giving a little history of their lives. I love when the parks include a history. Often times if they don’t I will go home and research the park myself. I love history!

It’s sad how the Arnold family lost 5 of their 9 children before the age of ten, heartbreaking.

Both Henry and Magdalena lived long lives.

Now on to the next graveyard, this one is quite a bit different. It’s not for people, it’s for equipment, I guess what else did you do with an old tractor?

The kids wanted to climb on them but they were pretty rusty so we skipped that part. They loved looking at the “big tools” as my grandson called them.

Carriage Hill Farm 086In part 3 of my Carriage Hill Farm – Exploring Parks Series, I’ll show you a couple more of the outbuildings on the property. I’ll also give you the information you’ll need if you would like to visit the farm yourself.
