Today I am sharing something a little different than I normally do. I was invited by my sweet blogging friend Katherine at Katherines Corner to be part of her blog series. Katherine is shining the light on bloggers age 50 plus.  Yup, that’s me. I love the name she chose “Between The Lines” bloggers age 50 and up  you should be following. “Between The Lines” referring to the well-earned lines on our faces. So get ready to learn a little extra something about me today.

When I first started  blogging almost 5 years ago I never dreamed it would blossom into what it has become today. I started the blog to share recipes and stories about my grandkids mostly for them. I was taking care of my elderly (mom she had Alzheimers) in my home at the time and I was having to stay home more so I thought, “what the heck, I’ll start a blog”. I know you’re thinking “who says that”? I was already helping out a friend who started a deal and coupon blog so I already saw what goes on behind the scene. I felt like I needed an outlet because taking care of my mom really took a lot out of me. She was in our home for 13 years.

I’ve always loved cooking and the outdoors, just living a simple life. I’m not fancy. I love walking barefoot and getting my hands dirty. But I also love technology which is another reason blogging is so much fun for me. The challenge is something I enjoy even if it gets frustrating at times. I am self-taught if that tells you about my skill level. Ha ha. I want to thank my go to computer guy Larry, he is a whiz and anytime something goes wrong I holler and he rushes to save the day, and fixes whatever is going wrong. Also thank you to Katherine is is always willing to stop and help me with any  question or help I might need. I am blessed.

Another favorite part of blogging for me is the photography. It was always a family joke “don’t let mom take the pictures, she’ll cut the heads off.” It’s true I would have. I’ve gotten better over time and lots of practice. It’s becoming a real passion. Here are a couple examples:

Lake Logan Hocking Hills 2015 375

Lake Logan Hocking Hills 2015 625

Lake Logan Hocking Hills 2015 765

I recently bought myself a really nice zoom lens. I can’t wait to get out and start getting some great close up on all sorts of animals, birds or the simple beauty of life.

I love camping and hiking.

Soups are my specialty. I can make a broth out of just about anything after you have a good broth, the skies the limit on what delicious soups you can create.  Here’s a couple of my favorite soups.

These are just a few of my recipes. I also share other topics like gardening, green living, health, fitness, nutrition and even financial. Anything that makes life simple.  Thank you for joining me today and I hope you’ll come back again.

Nice to meet a fellow Between The Lines blogger, Diane! I, too, love photography and that’s just since I started blogging. FYI, I do make cabbage rolls about twice a year. I make tons of it and then freeze in containers. I’m Hungarian and I learned from my mother, who learned from her mother-in-law. I’m really enjoying this series to meet other boomers like myself!

I am still working on visiting everyone. I am amazed at all the boomers like us that are out there. Thanks so much for commenting and I look forward to following you. 🙂

Hi Diane! So lovely to meet you via the “Between The Lines” blog series! I love the homely feel of your blog & I’m so pleased the series has introduced me to some awesome blogs such as yours! I think your photography is pretty good – it’s a hobby of mine too – I’m into iPhoneography at the moment- taking photos using the iPhone! It is less bulky than using camera & lens and I’m all for impromptu photography. Your soups look good too – will be pinning those recipes, for sure.

    1. Diane says:

Thanks Linda, I appreciate you stopping by. I can’t wait to check out your blog!
